This year was perhaps the most contradictory in the career of the Ukrainian forward. On the one hand he returned to Dynamo Kyiv, scored in the Champions League where he reached his personal record – a century of matches.
On the other hand the fourth place in the group of the main European tournament left the team without European Cups next spring and the failure of the national team to get through Greece in the World Cup qualification play-offs.
"I think that the positive thing of the year to last in my memory is coming back to Dynamo," said the player.
"Though not all my wishes came true I am happy to play football again. I am glad UEFA confirmed that Euro-2012 is to be held in Ukraine."
"I was worried about it but I believed that president of Football Federation Grigoriy Surkis would convince his counterparts from UEFA that Ukraine is ready to host such an event."
"Important thing is that my back does not worry me very often now. Anatoliy Tymoschuk recommended me a good doctor in Munich whose help is half of my good form now."
"The other half is the merit of Valeriy Gazzaev who trusted me even after several not very good matches for Dynamo. All this together with my desire to gain fitness determined the matter."
"I understood it before coming home: if my health let me I will become the one I used to be, will play and score."
"I have only one answer to all questions in conjunctive mood: even if people devised a time machine I would not have changed anything in my life."
"My career was rather successful and I still have the teen’s desire to reach new summits. But now this strive is combined with ability to get pleasure from football."
