- The first game with Zenit is to take place on 18 February in St. Petersburg. Do you agree that it is better to start a two-match duel in an away match?
- To tell the truth I see no difference between the games. No one can play the ape either in an away game or at home. Especially in the matches with such an opponent as Zenit. I am sure both games with Zenit will be very tense. Advocaat’s team can counterattack very well and they will cause lots of troubles in Germany. But we will prepare well and try to get through to the next round.
- Does the victory in the last matchday of the German championship against Bayer mean that the team gathers way?
- Yes. In the game against Leverkusen we showed great football and scored four goals. If we play the same way in St. Petersburg we will be able to win.
- In the presence of Dick Advocaat at the match with Bayer did not you try to conceal any trumps?
- No. We cannot afford to conceal anything in matches with such difficult opponent as Bayer. We played in full force or we would not have won.
- Advocaat used to coach Borussia Moenchengladbach. How do you think why the Dutch did not succeed in your country?
- I don’t know. I must confess that that time I did not pay much attention to the career of Advocaat. But in Russia he created a top team able to meet any challenges. I think Zenit is lucky to get such a coach.
- Aren’t you afraid of the cold weather that will most likely reign in St. Petersburg?
- Of course, not. I heard a lot about Russian frosts but we will definitely cope with the weather. And after all we expect problems from the footballers, not frosts.
- Have you learnt Zenit well?
- It is too early for this. We will start preparing after the game with Hannover this weekend. I saw the matches of Zenit and other German clubs of the UEFA 2007/08. But I am sure a different team will oppose us.
- Weaker without Arshavin?
- No, it will be simply different. As somebody left Zenit and somebody arrived. Nothing treads water, everything changes.
- Because of what can Stuttgart win Zenit?
- We have players with a big potential. If we manage to show our best qualities we will get through to the next stage. But it won’t be easy.
- In the game with Bayer you succeeded on counterattacks. Will you play Zenit the same way?
- Do you really think that I am going to tell you how we are going to play against the Russian team? Zenit has a coach so let him guess.
