RAILWAYS CUP GOING TO ANDALUSIA

Sevilla became the winner of the second Railways Cup having defeated the hosts of the tournament yesterday.

The results of the the Railways Cup semifinals that took place on Friday:

Milan-Sevilla – 0:1 (0:0)

Lokomotiv-Chelsea – 1:1 (0:1) Penalty kicks: 5:4

Sevilla moved to the final thanks to an unfortunate mistake by AC Milan's Gennaro Gattuso. The heart and engine of the side scored an own goal, leaving Milan to play for third place, as they did last year.

18-year old Lokomotiv defender Ruslan Kambolov helped his team win their semifinal. He scored a wonderful free kick with just five minutes to play, equalising Chelsea's opener, a half volley from Ghanaian Michael Essien. In the subsequent penalty shoot-out Lokomotiv goalkeeper Ivan Pelizzoli saved twice, including the final penalty from Andriy Shevchenko.

The second Day of the Cup:

Milan-Chelsea – 0:5 (0:3)

It became evident from the start that this rainy Sunday would not be Milan goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac's day, when Frank Lampard scored the first goal in the third minute of the game. Nicolas Anelka filled his boots, ending the match with 4 goals, two in each half.

Lokomotiv-Sevilla – 0:3 (0:2)

Lokomotiv did not manage to win the Cup at their second attempt. Last year they finished in fourth place, this year they won silver.

Head coach of Lokomotiv, Rashid Rakhimov, started the game with an experimental lineup, leaving a number of leading players sitting on the bench. It turned out to be an unsuccessful experiment as they let in two goals and missed a penalty at the end of the first half. The second half started with substitutions and the game became more interesting until Chevanton finished things off with a third Sevilla goal.
