This competition gathered almost all the elite of the world’s track and field athletics.
An official press conference took place in the hall of a hotel, and lots of sportsmen took part in it.
Russian pole-vaulter Elena Isinbaeva started her speech with an introduction in Italian. And it surprised all the Italians present at the conference.
"My Italian is not so good as I wanted it to be, the speech was prepared beforehand," - said Isinbaeva. – "But the progress is obvious."
"I like Italy. Last year my performance there was not bad. I won, set a new record for this competition - 4,90."
"Tomorrow I will try to jump not lower at least."
"For me it is typical to start summer season so late. Last year was an exception, as I competed for a jackpot of Golden League and therefore started in June."
"This year the priority of the Olympics is obvious, that is why I missed tournaments in Berlin and Oslo."
"I have not set new world records for a long time already," - Elena noticed keenly. - "But I think I am ready for it physically."
