Washington Capitals signed Viktor Kozlov to a two-year contract which has increased the number of Russian players in the club to three.
Semin and Ovechkin along with the newcomer Kozlov are likely to form a formidable Russian unit the coming season.
"I am really glad we've signed Kozlov as I think he is one of the most intelligent Russian utility forwards," said Ovechkin to Sport Express.
"The clubs managers were interested in my opinion of Kozlov and naturally I came out for signing a contract with him."
"We palyed a nubmer of good matches when playing in the same unit with Semin so I am sure things will be even better the next season."
"Moreover I expect the keeper Semen Varlamov to join us in autumn as I am convinced he can compete for the place in the goal with our first choice keeper Olie Kolzig."
"I must say I am glad we've started reinforcing our squad as I am sick and tired of being at the bottom of the table."
"The first day of transactions has been fraught with events but it is no surprise for me."
"Every of the thirty teams competing in NHL has a business of its own and they can afford to spend much money on players."
"I think the most significant deals are still ahead."
"As for Russian Superleague, there are only a couple of clubs that can pay a lot, Kazan, Ufa and perhaps some other club."
"Yet I still remember the last season I spent there."
"The teams reinforced their squads with big names from all over the world but it was Dinamo who turned champions."
