Pavel Abramov was born in 1979 in Moscow. He made his official debut in MGFSO, where he spent three seasons. In 1999 Abramov moved to play to Iskra Moscow region for which he is currently playing though there was a prolonged break in his performance for Iskra as he played for Dinamo Moscow from 2001 to 2003 and after that for Toray Arrows in the V-League, the team based just outside of Tokyo in Shizuoka, for three seasons. At the moment Abramov is one of the key players in the already near-and-dear Iskra.

Pavel Abramov is a key figure in the Russian national side as well. Abramov was quick to assume the role of being the decisive force within the powerful and ambitious Russian team and led his teammates to their first ever World League victory, even if they skated briefly on thin ice in the preliminary finals in Brazil, falling to Spain and just slipping into the finals as lucky loser in their group.

Abramov's more than impressive performance resulted in a well-deserved award for the Best Spiker and the third Best Scorer at the tournament. But more importantly, he confirmed his all round ability and was named the Best Receiver of the finals. He continued his sublime form at the World Championship in Argentina to again be one of the stars of the tournament finishing as the third Best Spiker.

Ambramov's success comes as no surprise following his promising performances during his youth career. At the 1999 Junior World championship in Thailand he was presented with both the Best Attacker and the Best Server awards, and was also named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
