Recognizing their defending weakness, the Dagestan based side have down well with the signings of Andrey Streltsov, Mitar Peković and Mahir Sukurov as well adding promising striker Jan Holenda from Sparta Praha. Not done in their additions, in quick move Anzhi have borrowed upon their contacts in Bulgaria to add Todor Timonov from CSKA Sofia and Levski Sofia's Youssef Rabeh.
The twenty-three year-old Todor Timonov is likely to be a key addition to Anzhi's manager Omari Tetradze’s line-up, as they need to find greater attacking pulse, particularly given the loss of Otar Martsvaladze to Volga Nizhny Novgorod.
With the twenty-four year-old Youssef Rabeh, they have an extremely fine central defender that comes with bales of personal problems. Not shy on talent, the young Moroccan international is known for resolute defending but has consistently run into problems off the pitch.
