RUSSIA RECEIVES PREFERENCIAL RANKING FOR EURO DRAW

With Russia now eliminated from next summers World Cup, the next major tournament to be faced will be 2012 UEFA Euro that will be jointly hosted by Poland and Ukraine.


Leading into the European championship, UEFA has released the final national team coefficient ranking, which is relevant for the pot allocation that will be used in qualifying draw in Warsaw on 7 February 2010. Along with Euro 2008 Champion Spain, Russia received a preferential selection into pot one along with fellow non-World Cup participant Croatia whilst South African bound Greece and Switzerland are in pot two.

Pot One: Croatia, England, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain

Pot Two: Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey.

Pot Three: Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, Israel, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Norway, Scotland

Pot Four:  Belarus, Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, FYR Macedonia, Slovenia, Wales,

Pot Five: Albania, Armenia, Estonia, Georgia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Montenegro,

Pot Six: Andorra, Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands, Luxembourg, Malta, San Marino.
