MALKIN: I WILL BE GLAD TO HELP RUSSIA

Evgeny Malkin talks about his meeting with the Russian hockey team coaching staff.

Russian hockey team coaches Vyacheslav Bykov and Igor Zakharkin visited the North America in order to talk with the candidates to the national side for the World Championship in Switzerland. Pittsburg forward and NLH top-scorer Evgeny Malkin spoke to Sport Express about his meeting with the coaches.

"Our talk with Bykov and Zakharkin lasted for more than two hours", said Malkin. "We talked about hockey, discussed national team matters, Euro Tour competitions and KHL playoffs".

"They asked us about our plans and our desire to play for the national team. We gave our consent immediately and we didn’t return to this issue anymore".

"I will be glad to advance in NHL playoffs and fight for the Stanley Cup. But if I don’t manage to do it, I will come to the World Championship in Switzerland".

"It’s very pleasant when the national team head coach talks with your personally, it was very interesting to listen to his stories about successes and problems in KHL. They told us about investors’ interest in the KHL and about European teams’ desire to join the League and many other things. When you play in America, you have practically no time to keep an eye on it".
