BASKETBALL: CSKA HAVE ONE FOOT IN FINAL FOUR

Euroleague quarterfinals started yesterday as CSKA took a giant step towards Final Four beating Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

CSKA Moscow tipped as the favourites of the competition hosted Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the first leg of Euroleague qaurterfinals. CSKA never let the supporters doubt the outcome of the game as they had a 21-6 lead after the first tip. Extendind the lead throughout the game CSKA won 80:58.

The same figures were on the scoreboard in Athens, where Panathinaikos hosted Dinamo Moscow. Only the first minutes of the game were really close as Dinamo started missing beyond hope whereas the oppenents scored easy points. The team manager Dusan Ivkovic was disappointed with the display.

"We showed a very poor display," said Ivkovic to Sport Express.

"The reason for that is lack of will in our players."

"However, I am the one who is to blame for it."

"I hope the outcome of the return-match will be completely different."
